Celebrate your way

November 23, 2011

Moving to the US made me appreciate American holidays so much more (mostly because I get less time off work).

Thanksgiving carries a special meaning for everyone. For some, it’s a time of high stress– hosting a large dinner party and dealing with the craziness of families coming together under a single roof. For some, it’s time to reconnect with their loved ones that they might have not had a chance to see for a long time. For some, it’s time to enjoy their favorite holiday dishes and pull out their wardrobe of stretchy pants, and for some, it’s bed time at 8pm to hit the early black Friday specials.

For Eric and I, Thanksgiving brings a different tradition that we hope to continue each year. It’s our time away from work and daily routines. It’s our time to reenergize from our busy schedules, re-center on what’s truly important to us, to reflect on our accomplishments over the last year, and to rekindle our relationship. I’ll be taking a short break from the blog, but I’ll be back before you can finish all those turkey leftovers with enough new stories to keep you entertained through this holiday season. Whatever plans you might have in store this Thanksgiving, be safe and carry on with dignity (no undoing your pants and untucking your shirt at the dinner table and no eating that 3rd piece of pumpkin pie standing over the kitchen sink). Smile
